R.I.R. Camping World Truck @ Martinsville Speedway

Martinsville Speedway in-world

(race of 8/4/12)

During the practice, Badguy Boozehound was telling us to watch "I survived a Japanese Game Show", claimed it's just hilarious. "I survived a Japanese Game Show"? Badguy, are you serious? We, in Second Life, could actually start our own and name it... say, "I haven't got lapped by Grosmanteau DeCuir". Bet you, with the frequency of this happening, racers you did that should be pronounced Second Life Racing heroes!
All the same people, all the same faces - but what is great about R.I.R. is that it never means the same positions on the grid. It might be ZZ, it might be Grosmanteau DeCuir, lately I can say it can be Sharon Densmith - but it was Eagle Clawtooth, who qualified first and no one else could beat his time.
Same level of predictability has the race itself. Let's have a look!
At the first lap, it turned into a battle between DeCuir, Clawtooth, ZZ and Saphyre Cyberstar; at first MidnightRambler Frostbite battled along with them, but was left behind after a few laps - the battle itself didn't have a loss, because Densmith caught up with them with an obvious intention of taking what she can, and promptly made it to the 4th position. Cyberstar was left on the 5th.
Sweet, who already was on one of the last positions at the track, was the first one who had a pitstop (on the 8th lap), and recovering costed him 4 laps; Cyberstar and Frostbite had his pitstop soon enough too. The rest kept on going, but leaders of the race, who already spreaded out with approximately 2 seconds gaps each, got their traffic, and BanningBairde was one of the last racers, even though he haven't had his pitstop yet. Even despite the fact DeCuir was an obvious leader of the race, it still was depending on how others will make their pitstops...
Leaders of the race had their pitspots almost together (32th-34th laps) - but, of course, the pitstops themselves were different, and that is the thing where every second matters. But the leaders came back at the track at the same order they had at the 31th lap... only with a cmall change that Cyberstar, who had a pretty early pitstop (20th lap), got the 4th position, while ZZ was pitting, and spared it (1 lap down). The race continued.
No changes were occuring, until Cyberstar soon had to make another pitstop - that happened at the 40th lap, so ZZ has moved to the 4th position being 2 laps down (Cyberstar herself lost 2 laps while being at the pits). Then it was BanningBairde, then Sweet, then Frostbite...
Eagle, going 2nd, has decided not to hold out till the race and better spend last laps on doing them without worrying of his fuel tank than doing an unplanned pitstop on one of the last laps. Needs to mention he was only 12 seconds behind DeCuir, so it was a very smart strategy, that worked perfectly when DeCuir and Densmith who were in front of him had to do their last pitstop - and it happened after Eagle's, at the 67th-68th laps. Well, it would. DeCuir, who's fast not only at the track, but pitting also. Eagle was 2 laps down towards him, so it just decreased the gap to a few seconds, but didn't infuented his position. Saron was the last who did a pitstop, but the gap between her and 4th place was 3 laps - obviously, she lost nothing!

Pitstop races are always thrilling and spectacular - with expectations from the bestest racers that burst with only a little difference at the pitstop... Today Clawtooth has showed that a thought-out pitstop strategy can save you your place even with such tough opponents like DeCuir and Densmith. Thank you very much, R.I.R. racers - keep on competing :)
