Unlike the race that took place 2 hours before this one (but let's give non-pros a break - they have a long and exciting way ahead!), Build Your Own always provides some good competition at each race! And of course, some eye-candy by creative people, like Saphyre Cyberstar, who's cars are always so beautiful you don't want to cam out of them! Today it wasn't an exception.
And the cars (well, that's more racers) compete just as awesome as they look!
Competition begins with the practice. Saphyre Cyberstar and Eagle Clawtooth were the definite leaders of it, with their under-13-seconds results.
Eagle also was leading during the qualifying session... but ZZ Bottom, who was qualifying last, got on the track, did 3 laps, and got the pole position on the 4th lap with 12.845!
Garth Moonites, already the hero of today's Challenge Cars race, even though he got 5th place - his qualifying round wasn't as great as the practice was, but this didn't prevent him from taking the lead. ZZ got into an accident at the track at the 3rd lap being already on the last position.
At first, it was a very tough battle, so I myself applaud Moonites' self-possession and how he managed to spare his position. What happened after makes me respect him as a racer even more.
Racers behind him stayed stayed in the battle together, however Clawtooth passed Densmith and Frostbite at the right moment to pull ahead and catch up with Moonites... but not overtake the lead himself. Moonites has firmed on the 1st position and wasn't going to give it up to Clawtooth. Even when Clawtooth was gaineng the lead at one turn, Moonites regained it at the next one.
That lasted till the halfway... when they were side by side, but Clawtooth was just a little bit ahead. Just 0.158 seconds. Moonites apparently was a bit distracted, and it costed him his place - he began getting behind Clawtooth, the gap was growing with each lap and stopped at 2.5 seconds. Behind Moonites was Densmith, who keeps on showing an amazing improvement with every race she participates in.
Meanwhile, a couple of racers got already lapped and, diffused among other racers, were quite an obstacle for them. Catching up became harder, so, even though some of them continued changing positions, soon stopped it due to the difficulty of it. So, till the end of the end of the race, no major changes have occured.

Great race it was, and hope it stays this way! Compete hard, racers, like you just did!
